Terms of use

For use of relibro.de and the Relibro iPhone app · Updated: 19 October 2026

Currently available features: Search, scan, save and list books with a verified account. Purchases with payment through Relibro are not yet available. These terms govern current use; they do not include purchase or payment terms for a future checkout.

1. Provider and scope

Apptheism®, owned by Jörg Klausewitz, Fischmarkt 17, 78462 Konstanz, provides Relibro as a website and native iPhone app. These terms govern use of the book search, account and published book listings.

You can find further provider and contact details in the Legal notice. The processing of personal data is explained in the Website privacy notice and the App privacy notice.

2. Account

You do not need an account to browse the catalogue or scan books. A seller account is required for a public listing. When registering, provide an email address you use yourself and keep your password secret. If someone may have accessed your account, contact info@apptheism.de.

Your email address must be verified to list books through your account. An account must not be used to deceive others or circumvent a justified suspension.

3. Listings and content

Before selecting “Publish on Relibro”, check the correct edition, ISBN, actual condition and your price. Only use photos you are entitled to display. Private addresses, phone numbers or other people’s data must not appear in book images or descriptions. Only list books you are entitled to offer; false, misleading or unlawful listings are prohibited.

Each listing is linked to a public seller profile. Provide your seller name and the correct status as a private or business seller. Business sellers must also provide their company name and business address. Your declaration does not replace the legal classification of your actual activities. Bulk imports are subject to the same rules as individual listings.

To enable us to display your listing, you permit us to show your texts and photos on Relibro for as long as the listing is published. Your other rights to the content remain intact. You can remove your own listing from the Shelf in the iPhone app.

3a. Due care and availability

All users must exercise due care when using Relibro and respect the rights and legitimate interests of others. Sellers are responsible for ensuring that their listings are truthful, complete and up to date. Before publishing, check the edition, condition, visible defects, photos, price and shipping details in particular. This also applies to automatically added details and bulk imports. Correct any errors you discover without delay.

Only offer books you are entitled to dispose of and can deliver on the stated terms. If a book is sold elsewhere or is no longer available, remove or pause the listing without delay. If you are temporarily unable to process orders, hide the affected listings. Regular availability checks do not replace this ongoing duty of care.

Listings have no fixed maximum duration. Six months after publication, reactivation or the last availability confirmation, we ask about all listings due for confirmation together in your account and under “My books”: “Are your books still available?” You can confirm all books due for confirmation with one click or remove individual listings that are no longer available. Check these account notices regularly.

If you do not confirm, we send another reminder in your account after seven days. After a total of 14 days without a response, we automatically pause the affected listings. There are at least seven days between the reminder and the pause. The deadlines and affected books are shown in your account. Purchases already in progress are not interrupted by this pause.

Paused listings no longer appear for sale. Photos and book details remain in your account. Use “Relist” to confirm that the books are still available and reactivate them. This does not remove other reasons for a suspension or override an ongoing listing review. Confirming availability or reactivating a listing neither changes its original listing date nor gives it a recency boost in sorting. Paid bumping is a separate feature.

For listings already published when this rule is introduced on 12 October 2026, the first six-month period starts on that date. Statutory rights and obligations remain unaffected.

4. Costs and planned purchasing launch

The features currently provided, including registration and publication of listings, are free of charge. Registering, saving or publishing a book does not incur a service fee or a paid subscription.

For the planned launch of purchases: buyers pay a buyer fee of 5% of the book subtotal plus €0.99 per order from one seller, in addition to the book subtotal. The buyer fee includes VAT. Shipping is charged separately and is excluded from the buyer fee calculation. Multiple books from the same seller can be ordered together, with the fixed €0.99 charged only once. Different sellers require separate orders. The fee is based on the book subtotal after discounts or accepted price offers and is rounded to the nearest cent. All amounts are shown before completion.

Private and business sellers can register, list and sell without a monthly fee or selling commission. Relibro bears payment processing costs. Optional advertising is charged separately at the rate shown before booking, including agreed success-based advertising.

5. Book listings and contracts

You currently cannot place an order or make a payment through Relibro. Listing, viewing or saving a book therefore does not create a purchase contract through these features. Relibro currently neither accepts buyer funds nor makes seller payouts.

Jörg Klausewitz states that he offers his own used books as a private seller. This is separate from Apptheism’s operation of the platform. This statement relates only to his own books and makes no statement about the status of other sellers.

For future purchases, the seller and their status as a private or business seller must be identifiable. Each listing must make clear whether Relibro itself is the seller or an intermediary. These terms of use do not replace the purchase, delivery and consumer information still required for that purpose.

Price changes and price offers

Sellers can change prices for individual or multiple listings and set up limited-time discounts. A new promotion replaces the previous promotion for the selected books; the base price applies again once it ends.

Price offers apply to the book price, plus shipping. Sellers can decide themselves or set automatic price limits. An accepted price applies to the requesting buyer account until the displayed expiry, for no more than 48 hours from submission and only while the book remains available. A price change or new pricing rule invalidates previous offers. Making or accepting a price offer does not complete a purchase.

6. Book data, price estimates and search results

Relibro obtains some book data and covers from Open Library and may supplement missing ISBN data with information from the German National Library. Automatic matching can be wrong: especially when there are different editions, it is worth checking your own book. A displayed price suggestion is an estimate, not a verified market value.

Search on the homepage shows published Relibro listings. Search terms and filters determine which books appear. “Recommended” takes into account search relevance, recency, complete listing details and sellers followed on the homepage. Suitable older listings are regularly given a place. You can instead sort by recency or book price. Bumping affects recency and “Newest first”. Price sorting uses the book price; shipping is extra. Active advertising can highlight listings or display them in labelled, rotating ad placements. The Rules for sorting and advertising explain these effects. Catalogue results when scanning and listing are used to record book data and are not automatically listings available to buy.

7. Reviews, reports and measures

Signed-in users can raise complaints about orders, reviews received or their account under “Complaints”. AI assists with the initial assessment and follow-up questions; personal review can be requested at any time. Replies and handling status are available in the saved conversation. AI does not decide on refunds, account restrictions or the removal of reviews. Resolve an issue

New listings and changes to descriptions or photos undergo an automated review using Cloudflare Workers AI before publication. This review can detect spam, misleading information, private data or other specific rule violations, but can also make mistakes. If issues are detected, the result is unclear or a technical failure occurs, the listing remains unpublished until a manual decision is made. Approval is not a guarantee of authenticity, ownership, legal permissibility or freedom from defects.

You can find the review status and reason under Sell. You can request a human review through support. The “Report listing” feature is available on active listings even without an account; submitted reports are handled manually.

If a listing infringes rights, is misleading or violates these rules, we review the report and may hide or remove the listing. Serious or repeated violations may result in restrictions on publishing or the account. We consider the severity, recurrence and impact of the violation, as well as the interests of those affected.

Use the Support page to report a listing or challenge a decision. If possible, provide the listing link and a specific reason. We inform affected users of the reason for a measure unless legal requirements prevent this, and review objections through support.

8. Reviews

After a completed Relibro order, buyers and sellers can each submit one review of 1 to 5 stars within 14 days of receipt confirmation. Self-reviews are excluded. Reviews stay hidden until both parties have submitted or the deadline has passed. Submitted reviews cannot be changed, and no reviews can be submitted after the deadline. Only visible reviews of completed orders count towards the profile. Cancelled or refunded orders are excluded.

9. Ending use and deleting your account

You can stop using Relibro at any time. You can request deletion of your account on the website under “My account”, through the account feature in the app or by emailing info@apptheism.de . Requests are currently processed manually and confirmed by email. The privacy notice explains how we handle stored data and statutory retention obligations.

10. Liability and final provisions

Statutory liability rules apply to damages. In particular, claims arising from intent, gross negligence or injury to life, body or health remain unaffected. If any provision of this text is invalid, the statutory provisions take its place. Mandatory consumer rights apply regardless of these terms.
